About Anti-Skateboarding Guards
Skateboard guards prevent damage by adding obstacles along the smooth edges of railings, benches, and short concrete walls that skateboarders like to grind along.
Typically, they should be spaced about 24″ (2 feet) apart, with between 12″ and 18″ of space from either end of the surface they are guarding. Guards are anchored into the surface using industrial-strength impact-resistant epoxy and metal anchor pins. Note though, guards should not be attached at grout lines or expansion joints.
For special applications such as benches made of wooden slats, anchor pin position is critical in attaching the guards securely. The flat radius aluminum guards offer the best solution for this application because the anchor points can be determined during installation, whereas most guards have predetermined anchor positions.
They are available in their natural weather resistant metal alloys or, upon request, they can be powder-coated in a variety of colours to suit the surrounding architecture.
